What is hair loss?

It’s also known as alopecia or baldness, which is the loss of hair from part of the head mainly. There are different types of hair loss conditions and the severity can vary from one person to another and can even vary between males and females. According to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF), 147 million people worldwide have or will develop hair loss at some point in their lives.

Cause

  • Family history or heredity
  • Hormonal changes such as menopause or post childbirth
  • Medications and supplements such as chemotherapy or radiation
  • Stressful environments
  • Unhealthy diet
  • Excessive hairstyling and hair treatments

Management

  • Daily intake of a multivitamin containing zinc, biotin, folate, iron, calcium, and vitamin B12
  • Treating underlying conditions such as anemia, thyroid disease, hormonal imbalance, and fungal infections of scalp

Treatment

  • Make sure hair and scalp are dry before applying Minoxidil 5% solution.
  • Massage the solution into your scalp using fingertips in the morning and evening before going to bed
  • Duration: 4 months
