What is Type I Acne?
It is the abnormal keratinization of epithelial cells within the sebaceous ducts with thickening of the keratin lining resulting in the obstruction of the outflow of sebum and inflammation. Acne is the most common disease of adolescence affecting 85% of individuals aged 15 to 24 years to variable degrees. Having comedones which are white and blackheads is a mild type of acne.
Cause
- Accelerated growth of Propionibacterium acne
- Increase in sebum production
- High sugar intake
- Stress
- Certain medications
Management
- Increase water intake
- Decrease sugar and oily based food intake
- Avoid scrubbing to reduce inflammation
- Do not squeeze the spots
Treatment
Follow the steps for each time of day regimen.
2 Months Daytime Regimen:
- Wash face with salicylic acid based product
- Apply niacinamide face cream treatment
- Apply sunscreen with SPF 50
2 Months Nighttime Regimen:
- Wash face with salicylic acid based product
- Apply Benzyl Peroxide 5% gel
